Marquette gets verbal from Nick Williams
Nick Williams, a 6'4" guard from Mobile, Alabama has submitted a verbal commitment to play for the Marquette Men's basketball team, according to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Williams is a junior at LeFlore high school in Mobile and will join Marquette in 2008.
Marquette beat out Cincinnati, Oklahoma and Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Florida State, and Missouri, for Williams' services. Florida, Kansas, and UConn had also been expressing an interest. Williams indicated he was strongly interested in Marquette when he attended MU's elite camp last month.
Rosiak reports that Williams's father is a "die-hard" Marquette fan, and that Nick was continually recruited during AAU games by MU's Assistant Coach and Alabama native, Bennie Seltzer.
Williams averaged a double/double at LeFlore high school, leading his team to a 29-6 record in his sophomore year. He has been rated as high as 4-stars on the national high school ranking websites.
